Düsseldorf, Germany — 27th April 2026 — Mio has completed the rollout of Blue Yonder Category Management, enabling a more centralized and data-driven approach to category management and space planning across its retail chain. The implementation is designed to improve alignment between assortment decisions and available shelf space and to reduce manual planning effort across more than 70 stores.
Mio has been transitioning from a decentralized planning model toward centralized category and space planning to strengthen control over sourcing, assortment decisions, and store-level execution across its store network.
In the context of this transformation and Mio’s continued expansion, existing planning processes became increasingly complex. Assortment decisions were not always fully aligned with available shelf space, leading to inefficient space utilization, excess inventory and higher handling costs in a growing share of stores. At the same time, manual and fragmented workflows made it difficult to apply consistentplanning standards across all stores and to adapt layouts to local requirements. These challenges highlighted the need for a centrally managed, data-driven approach to category management and space planning with a focus on improving planogram compliance and replenishment accuracy.
The implementation performed by Strategix focused on building a robust, scalable SaaS-based environment, which seamlessly connects Mio’s core systems with the Blue Yonder Category Management. rConnector, a interoperability layer developed by Strategix, facilitates seamless cross-system operability and automated data exchange between already existing Mio systems and the Blue Yonder platform.
With an end-to-end process — from data ingestion to planogram and floorplan execution — the new environment helps Mio make faster assortment decisions, optimize shelf and floor space, and apply consistent planning standards across stores. Improved system integration also strengthens data consistency and supports localization governance, reducing manual effort while enabling controlled local adaptations
“Strategix demonstrated deep expertise in the implementation of Blue Yonder Category Management and a strong understanding of retail planning processes,” said Richard Gotbring, Head of Concept Development. “This solution ensured seamless integration with our existing systems, enabling centralized assortment and space planning across our store network. For our teams, this means less manual work and a more consistent way of planning and executing layouts—while still allowing stores to adapt within clear guidelines.”
“We are proud to support Mio in this important step toward a modern, integrated Category Management environment,” said Jan Hanussek, CEO, Strategix Retail Solutions GmbH. “The key complexity was integrating multiple core systems with a SaaS platform while ensuring reliable, automated workflow and data exchange—addressed through our rConnector interoperability layer. This project demonstrates how strong collaboration, the right technology, and a clear process vision can create a solid foundation for future growth and continuous improvement.”
